Road Ready Parents
Traffic crashes are the number one killer of teens. With so many teens being injured or killed on our nation’s roadways, teen driving safety has become a national priority and a top concern for parents, according to a survey commissioned by Chrysler.
That's why Chrysler created Road Ready Teens to help you ease your teen into driving. Based on research and principles advocated by the nation's top safety organizations, the program's tips and tools have been designed to help teens gain driving experience and maturity before they actually hit the road.
Parents hold the keys when it comes to easing their teens into driving. Sure, you want your teen to have freedom, and teen drivers can be helpful when it comes to family driving responsibilities. But before you completely hand over the keys to your teen, you need to make sure that he/she is a safe driver, which requires practice and experience.
To make sure that your teen is road ready, we recommend the following steps:
- Read through the Road Ready Teens Parent’s Guide with your teen
- Personalize the Parent-Teen Road Rules Contract to fit the needs of your family
- Require your teen to play StreetWise Version 2.0, a state-of-the-art video game that is challenging, exciting and helps teens better understand the risks they face in their early driving years
- Continue to be a good role model and talk to your teen about the risks and responsibilities involved with being a good driver
